Our Community

The Greater Hickory Metro is located at the Foothills of the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains.  The Catawba Valley offers a multitude of business opportunities, educational and leisure activities.  We are know as “The Furniture Capital”.  Some of our largest businesses include Corning, Commscope, Hickory Springs, Century Furniture and Target (with a distribution center in the area).  Our schools of higher education include Lenoir Rhyne University (home of the Bears) and Catawba Valley Community College.  We have two of the finest hospitals, Catawba Valley Medical Center and Frye Regional Medical Center.  The community is very family oriented promoting Hickory Alive downtown on the square during the summer months every Friday evening with live entertainment (bring the dogs & kids).  There is the scenic Lake Hickory for family boating and activities.  The Hickory Community Theater is a great place to join the arts along with the Science Center and you must listen to the Hickory Choral Society.  There is also lots of history in our community such as the historic Murray’s Mill, the Propst House, the Bunker Hill Covered Bridge and the Newton Historic Museum.  If you are one to dine out, there are of restaurants; chains such as Outback, Applebees, Chillis, Texas Road House and Long horn along with local favorites such as The Hickory Taproom, The Hickory Tavern, Higjland Avenue Restaurant,Youseef 242 and The Charolais to name a few.  Rock Barn Country (which sponsors an annual PGA Senoirs Tournament) ,Lake Hickory Country Club and Catawba Country Club are all located in the Catawba Valley area.  The churches in the area are of all demoniations and would welcome your visit.  Summing it up our area is a great place to worship, work and play.
